Broadband filter increases visual and photographic detail in emission and reflection nebulae
This is an excellent quality and highly affordable broadband nebula contrast boosting eyepiece filter. It boasts fine optically polished glass with excellent performance.
As part of the evaluation team for its development we compared it closely with 2 other popular advertised brands and found its performance to be as good as both the others. Since we source directly the manufacturer you can avoid alternative brand name mark-ups providing this excellent nebula filter at a very reasonable price.
The ProStar Nebular enhancement filter strongly rejects the light of sodium and mercury vapor lights as well as natural airglow and auroral emissions. M27 is one classic example of its outstanding contrast performance.
Strong nebular emission spectral lines, transmitting in the visually sensitive regions primarily at 486nm and 496 to 501nm (Oxygen-III, or OIII) and (Hydrogen Beta), are passed through the filter with high transmission percentages. It allows nebulous light to reach the eye with dramatically enhanced detail while the effects of unwanted suburban lights are greatly reduced. The contrast between galaxies and the background night sky is also typically enhanced by the filter, but because galaxies emit light in a much broader range of wavelengths than nebulae, the effect is generally not as dramatic in these cases.
This excellent quality, highly affordable filter is a must have visual accessory and can also be used for astrophotography.
